About the Course:
This course introduces junior high school and high school students to academic writing skills. Students use phrases and clauses to clearly express ideas by understanding and creating sentence patterns. Students master material in the grammar textbook through cooperative practice and creative repetition. The student-based, active course prepares students for the SAT and other standardized test. But, more importantly, the course enables students to develop ideas using grammatical patterns.
Students also study essay pre-writing, brainstorming, organization, and revision. During this fall semester, we will focus on thesis essays, descriptive essays, definition, and argumentation. Students this fall will also study various professional and student essays to help develop a stronger ability to accurately link ideas to a thesis. Upon finishing this course, all students will have a much greater understanding of English grammar and composition.
There is a strict limit of 10 students for this intensive course.
Tuition price is currently only $25 per hour. For more information about price and availability or to register for classes, please contact Sean Savoie.
